My LO and I went to our first Sunrise Sounds class recently and had a great time. The class is held at the Marylebone Dance Studio on Lisson Grove just by the Marylebone Road. It is advertised as being for children from 1 year old.
We were there a bit early, so we were able to explore and play with the various instruments that were laid out for the children to try. I had great fun trying out some of the odd looking instruments (which I know is not the point), and LO was fascinated by all the new ways to make noise. The full length mirrors in the dance studio were also a big hit! The class was full of songs, music and activities. The children were of a mix of ages but all young toddlers. Many were familiar with the class routine and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were lots of opportunities to interact, play instruments, dance etc. My LO enjoyed "singing along" too. Rosie, who led the class, has a lovely voice and the children seem to love her. This week a visiting flautist gave a short introduction to the flute and then demonstrated the versatility and beautiful sounds that the flute can make. The children all seemed captivated by the lovely sounds (as was I). It was interesting to see how the children of different ages responded to the class. The little ones enjoyed interacting, making noise, moving about, and the older ones enjoyed participating and following the songs and activities. The really old ones (me) enjoyed the opportunity to sing along and make some noise along with the children! It is a great way to get the children interested in music and learning something We had a lot of fun at the class and look forward to going back soon!
