We took our 10 month old to For Crying Out Loud recently so I thought I would post my thoughts. Unfortunately I only heard about this recently and I think at 10 months and crawling/cruising, she was a bit to old for the event. Tickets are hard to get - the early session always seems to sell out and the later lunch slot is at a slightly awkward time (for us at least, I'm sure more flexible babies would be fine!).
It was a super rainy day and we arrived late as ever. There is lots of parking for prams in the foyer. The hall was about half full so lots of space to roam about if needed, with space at the back for mat play and feeding etc. The music was lovely and the performers introduced each piece with a short explanation and encouraged us to move and dance to the livelier pieces. Most of the babies were under 9 months. Once they are moving, I think its difficult to enjoy the concert. My LO was really not in the mood to sit in one place and wanted to stand, sit, crawl, explore which reduced our enjoyment of the music. She seemed somewhat oblivious to the music, but I know that at 5 or 6 months she would have been enthralled by it. Wigmore Hall does to Toddler Bop for 1-2 year olds but the tickets sell out the moment they go on sale. Disappointingly they seem to only hold it every 6 months unlike FCOL which is every 2 months I believe. I really recommend FCOL to mums with younger babies - its a lovely way to spend 45 minutes together and enjoy some beautiful music in gorgeous surroundings. Link here: For Crying Out Loud

Thank you for sharing this. I had read about these concerts on some other websites but honestly I was a bit sceptical... What could a baby possibly enjoy in such setting? It surely sounds more like for the parents...Isn't 45mins too long? And what about the noise - isn't it too loud for the delicate ears of a 5-month old? (my LO seems particularly sensitive to loud noises)... Questions, questions, questions...:-) I guess it should be tried though before jumping into conclusions. I may give it a try then... Thanks again for sharing. And thank you for starting this blog/site, great idea! Hope many of us will contribute to make it as useful and fun as possible!

Hi, I am glad you found it a useful read. The atmosphere is calm and somewhere new which seems to work for the babies. You do not have to stay for the full 45 minutes and you are free to get up, move around etc as the hall is not fully booked out.
