Poco a Poco music classes are starting from April at the Marylebone Dance Studios.
Karen, who runs the classes, is a local mum of two boys who is bringing up these new and exciting music classes to Marylebone from April 2016. Through the use of movement and the playing of percussion instruments, children will gain great confidence with their parents/carers in a variety of musical skills, developing a good sense of rhythm and pitch.
She has a fascinating background, "Before becoming a mum, I enjoyed a varied and interesting career in both playing and especially in teaching, my passion. From Head of Strings at Caterham School, going out to the British School, Abu Dhabi to help set up a new strings programme and working for the Menuhin Foundation in Bermuda my experiences have helped me to develop my teaching style and keep up with the latest methods and ideals. I look forward to meeting many families from the area over the next few months and engaging in fun music-making with you all!"
Classes start on Friday 15th April through to the Friday 1st July (10 classes) no classes on Friday 27th May or Friday 3rd June .

The Little Studio Art Class taster session was held last week at the Marylebone Village Nursery School. It was a popular event and Kirsten (who runs the classes) has sent us a note and a great picture from the session - see below.
The classes seem like a great way to let the children have some creative fun, and make some mess (and have someone else do the clearing up - sorry Kirsten!).
"We had a really enjoyable and busy taster session. Children alongside their parents and carers made some beautiful caterpillar collages and lots of abstract works too!. We also had flour drawing, making shakers, and some printing. It was a great pleasure to meet so many budding Marylebone artists! Children took home artwork and some delicious chocolate cake that was kindly donated by Nordic Bakery, New Cavendish Street for our session.
I'm looking forward to starting the art course next week. The theme for the term is 'Spring into Summer' Each week we'll have a different topic relating to the theme for example Growing, Summer in the city, Matisse’s Snail, Bees, bugs and butterflies, Seaside, Starry nights. Our sessions offer the opportunity for 1 - 3 year olds to explore materials and their own creativity alongside the parent/carer with the supervision of an experienced art tutor. We have ten sessions in total. Course fee is: £90. For any more information please call Kirsten on 07855 6165353 or email firstname.lastname@example.org."
