Let me know if afternoon works better - if the majority prefer, I will change the time!
This evening I was lucky enough to be invited to an event to launch to the new branch of Natural Kitchen on Baker Street. All signs are positive for this to be a new family-friendly venue for Marylebone.
As all Marylebone residents know, Natural Kitchen is a popular deli/coffee shop/food store on the High Street. Its always and busy at most times of day, with great food especially the salad selection and the great butcher. The premises on the High St are not that easy to navigate as it is a smallish store but there is a lift so it is pram friendly as such. The new premises are more about prepared food for take out or dine-in, and there is a bar too with a large variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.
The deli counter, with its main and salads deals and juices was sizeable and I look forward to the usual great selection of salads which make a great lunch or dinner on those days when you're just too tired to cook. The restaurant menu is a nice safe menu with lots of favourites that would please all members of the family - burgers (beef, lamb, chicken, fish), grills, salads, fish pie and fish cakes all caught my eye. There wasn't a single thing on the menu that I wouldn't order! There is a kids menu which I couldn't find, but many of the items on the main menu seemed both adult and kid friendly so I'm sure its a well thought out selection.
The layout is very pram-friendly - the entrance ramp means to awkward steps to manoeuvre, and there are baby changing facilities and high chairs available. There seemed to be plenty of space between tables as well which is very important!
I can see this being a popular destination both with the lunchtime office crowd and with locals throughout the day and on weekends. It would have been great to have some space for a small selection of groceries or fresh fruit and vegetables, or a butcher counter but I guess a few minutes extra walk to the High Street branch isn't too bad.
Definitely a venue for a future meet-up!
Sunrise Sounds had been on a short break as the Marylebone Dance Studio was being refurbished - but classes are restarting from this Friday May 16th at 9.30am. Hooray!
The team also have a NEW WEBSITE - please do check it out www.toddlermusicclassmarylebone.com, there is lots of information about the classes there. They are also offering 2 opportunities for totally free trials for new customers- the 16th, and 23th May so do sign up.
There are 10 sessions this term, running from 16th May - 25th July, with a mid-term break on the 20th June - the classes are not really synced with school term-times this term.
My daughter and I trialled a class at the end of last term and I wrote about it here. We had a great time and are looking forward to joining the classes now.
The Little Studio Art Class taster session was held last week at the Marylebone Village Nursery School. It was a popular event and Kirsten (who runs the classes) has sent us a note and a great picture from the session - see below.
The classes seem like a great way to let the children have some creative fun, and make some mess (and have someone else do the clearing up - sorry Kirsten!).
"We had a really enjoyable and busy taster session. Children alongside their parents and carers made some beautiful caterpillar collages and lots of abstract works too!. We also had flour drawing, making shakers, and some printing. It was a great pleasure to meet so many budding Marylebone artists! Children took home artwork and some delicious chocolate cake that was kindly donated by Nordic Bakery, New Cavendish Street for our session.
I'm looking forward to starting the art course next week. The theme for the term is 'Spring into Summer' Each week we'll have a different topic relating to the theme for example Growing, Summer in the city, Matisse’s Snail, Bees, bugs and butterflies, Seaside, Starry nights. Our sessions offer the opportunity for 1 - 3 year olds to explore materials and their own creativity alongside the parent/carer with the supervision of an experienced art tutor. We have ten sessions in total. Course fee is: £90. For any more information please call Kirsten on 07855 6165353 or email email@example.com."
Looking for input! Would there be interest in a regular coffee morning e.g. once a month, or more frequently? Also, would you be interested in getting speakers in on topics e.g family/child related? What days would suit? What else would you like to see happening in Marylebone?
I'm looking for ideas and polling to see what people would find useful.
